It is often a good idea to submit an idea to us (described in no more than a single A4 side) before you embark on your project. We rarely commit to a contract at this stage, but we can advise whether you are on the right lines and we can give valuable time saving tips before you start writing in earnest.

Before launching into your manuscript CHECK our free guidelines. Submitting books in the correct formats will increase your chance of being accepted. If you end up self publishing, it will save you time and money as well.

Once completed, you can submit a printed copy of your manuscript to youbooks (see our contact detais in the left menu).  We pass the manuscript to several people and it is easier for us to read a printed copy and make notes. We do not accept electronic submissions. Make a copy, as we will scribble on your submitted version. If you want it returning, you must enclose a self addressed envelope with the correct postage.

Allow up to two months for us to consider your manuscript. Bear in mind also, that it takes at least six months from acceptance for a book to reach the book shops. Over three quarters of books are sold between October and early January, so to hit this market you need to be submitting a manuscript in the previous January. Occasionally, very strong titles will be brought to market quicker than this.
